Dalgety: The National Capital That Never Was
In 1904 the tiny hamlet of Dalgety on the Snowy River was chosen to be the site of Australia's capital. But it never happened. I'll tell you why as I explore the heritage towns of the Monaro Snowy Mountains area of NSW.

Newcastle: The travel destination you didn't know you needed

Newcastle was once known as Hell Hole and all it had going for it was industry and coal exports. But these days NSW's second largest city is a vibrant mix of the old and the new with plenty of culture, cafes and great beaches. I travel to the small town of Wallangarra on the Queensland/New South Wales border to see what is life like in an Australian country town. Wallangarra used to be a busy break of gauge town but life slowed down considerably when the trains stopped running. I look at the unique challenges faced by a community split by state borders. Australia's Hidden Seaside Gems: 1770 & Agnes Water
Просмотров 13 тыс.Месяц назад
There's a vibe about the Town of 1770 and Agnes Water. They're very laid back, everything goes slowly and it's like the locals wear a smile that says: "Yeah, we know we live in paradise." It's unspoiled but there's also a touch of Byron chic that attracts sea-changers, backpackers and surfers alike. I explore what the towns have to offer and ride an amphibious vehicle to a lighthouse. Glad you didn't claim Flinders hwy is the deadliest hwy in Australia, cause it's not, roads in Melbourne are classified as hwys like Stud Rd (Mt Dandenong hwy) its far worse than Flinders, flinders is bad for people disappearing though

Every environment has positive & negative aspects. Warning signs are there for a reason. Sadly, the more dangerous the environment, the higher the allure for selfies & unique content to post on the internet. NO CONTENT OR SELFIE IS WORTH RISKING OR LOSING YOUR LIFE OVER. A few fleeting mins of attention is NOT worth a lifetime with the people you love, reaching each & every milestone along the way. You don't have to have a post go viral to give you purpose or "be" somebody. Use your lifetime to earn your notoriety if that's what you ultimately seek. Along the way you'll find your purpose & still be here to enjoy it. Viral relevance is fleeting & as quickly as it comes, it evaporates at the same rate. Let your common sense be your guide. Don't give up a lifetime to prove you were here like so many others already have, but sadly I cannot remember their names. Have fun & above all stay safe.❤

Dalmeny would be totally unsuitable for a capital. It is a moonscape of granite boulders, totally unsuitable for building much at all. Borderline suitable for even agriculture.

Before his fame/infamy Ned was a prodigious horse thief by his own admission. Thats the equivalent to a car thief today. Thats no hero and exactly why the police disliked him. That said he was eloquent, loyal to his own and brave. He could have escaped at Glenrowan but returned to save his gang. That alone desrves respect.
